Alpen-Adria Visiting Professorship 2019 – Welcome, Prof. Tanja Oblak Črnič, PhD

We are pleased to welcome Professor Tanja Oblak Črnič, PhD from the University of Ljubljana at the department of Media and Communications, as an Alpen-Adria Guest Professor of the Faculty of Humanities for the spring semester of 2019.

Tanja Oblak Črnič graduated in Sociology (1996), received her Master’s degree (1999) and Doctor’s degree (2001) in Communication Sciences at the Faculty of Social Sciences with her thesis “Images of electronic democracy: communication technologies and changes in communication and participation processes”. During the course of the master’s degree, she took advanced academic study courses at the University of Essex and the University of Oxford (UK). After her doctorate, she worked as a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Helsinki (FI), and in 2012, she was as a visiting researcher at the University of California, Berkeley (USA). She has been employed at the Faculty of Social Sciences at the University of Ljubljana since 1996. Since 2015, she is a full professor of Communication at the University of Ljubljana. As a regular member of the Chair of Media Studies, she teaches courses such as Communication and New Technologies, Communication Research Seminar, Introduction to Communication Research and Research Practice. She also teaches in the Multimedia programme at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering (University of Ljubljana) and in the Media studies programme at the University of Montenegro.
Her research interest lies in Internet studies, political communication and new media audience research within different cultural and social contexts. Recently, she has focused her research on the issues of digital citizenship and digital media usage, primarily among the youth and within their changing everyday and family lives. The results of her research are regularly published in Slovene and in International publications and presented at different scientific conferences. Tanja Oblak Črnič will be holding a course on “Digital culture, politics and youth” at master level, starting on March, 7 and giving a lecture on “Life on the Screen? Challenges and Controversies of Digital Youth” (June, 18, 4 pm, HS 1).

Paper Acceptance at the 2019 Frontiers in Service Conference in Singapore!

Christina-Franca Feyertag has just recently received the honor of acceptance for her abstract entitled “Coalitions, Social Exclusion and Recovery in Trilateral Service Failure Constellations” at the Frontiers in Service Conference 2019 in the vibrant city of Singapore! The Frontiers in Service Conference is the world’s leading service conference , featuring a unique international mix of business people and academics, and a cross-functional list of topics, including service science, service innovation, service marketing, service operations, service human resources, service information technology, e-service, service innovation, and customer relationship management. Speakers at the conference include many of the world’s leading service experts, including high-ranking executives and prominent academics. Numerous high quality submissions have been made.  We look forward to having Mrs. Feyertag represent the AAU and our department and are confident that the conference will be exciting, stimulating and provide innovative ideas for future research.
